I started my specialization in internal medicine in February 2020 at the Canisius Wilhelmina Hospital in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. I am specifically interested in infectious diseases and critical care, and I hope to further specialize in Intensive Care.

Besides clinical work I conduct research in immunology and infectious diseases. I am fascinated by how the cells of our own immune system can be optimized to fight off infection, which was the focus of my PhD research on malaria vaccines. I am currently also involved in multi-center studies on lung pathology and coagulopathy in Covid-19.

Beyond work I am an obsessive scuba diver, both right here in The Netherlands and abroad, and I teach CPR and First Aid to divers and medical interns.
